Kowalczyk, Mr./Mrs. John (Gold - 3 JUL 1960)

Mr. and Mrs. John Kowalczyk of Gilman celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary July 9th.  The children of the Kowalczyk’s were in charge of the wedding festivities, which started at 10 a.m. services at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. John Dzurko reading the high Mass.  Bob Kowalczyk and Steven Lencz served as altar boys.  The altar was decorated with golden mums.  Mrs. John Kondrasuk played the organ and sang a solo.

 

For the occasion Mrs. Kowalczyk wore a light blue nylon lace dress with accessories to match.  She wore a white orchid.  Mr. Kowalczyk wore a dark suit with a golden boutonniere.  Two bridesmaids were present, Mrs. Angeline Bakowy and Mrs. Angeline Bocknik, both of Chicago.

 

One hundred and fifty relatives attended the dinner at Koolmo’s Ball Room.  A beautiful four tiered cake decorated the table which was baked by Mrs. Tim Thompson of Stanley.  250 relatives and friends greeted the Kowalczyk’s at open house during the afternoon.  Those serving were Mrs. Laurence Kapsy, Mrs. Bernard Fasnacht, Mrs. Al Palmer, Miss Barbara Chaplinski and Miss Delores Berenchik.

 

Among the relatives was Mr. Kowalczyk’s sister, Mrs. John Syslo of Chicago.  Out of town relatives were from Hammond, Ind., Chicago, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Manitowoc, Edgar, Oconto Falls, Lublin, Thorp, Stanley and Cornell.

 

John Kowalczyk took for his bride Miss Ann M. Pasyk July 3,, 1910 at St. Florian’s Catholic Church in Hagewisch, Ill.  Mrs. Kowalczyk was born Feb. 12, 1888 at Tymbork, Poland and Mrs. Kowalczyk was born June 2, 1883 at Kroscienko, Poland.  The couple started out in Roundey, Mont., moved to Aurora in 1919 where they farmed until their retirement in 1948, when they moved to Gilman.

 

All 8 children were present for the celebration.  They are Alex, Frank, Gus, Joseph, and Mary, Mrs. Frank Lencz of Gilman, Rose, Mrs. John Bujak, Chicago, Ill., Edna, Mrs. Harold Duffy, Milwaukee, Wis., Sophie, Mrs. Harlan Gonstead, Eau Claire.  They have 35 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren
