 Luchterhand, Orville Walter Herman  (23 MAY 1923 - 29 JAN 1999)

Orville W. H. Luchterhand, age 75, of Loyal, died on Jan. 29, 1999 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit at 12:09 a.m.  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.  Rev. Daniel E. Zimmerman officiated and burial was in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 32, 1999, at Rinka Funeral Home, from 4-9 p.m. and at church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Pallbearers were Earl Breier, Harold Dahl, Vern Dahlby, Verland Dux, Jerry Mrotek, Tom Bobrofsky, Earl Falconer, LaVern Kronberger, and Norman Luchterhand.

Orville Walter Herman Luchterhand was born on May 28, 1923 at Little Wolf, Wis., Waupaca County, to Alvin and Laura (nee Brier) Luchterhand.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Veefkind church, educated at Spokeville School, and raised on the family farm in the Town of Loyal.  On May 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to Ellen Henseler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.  They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary this past year.  They lived and farmed in the Town of York for 37 years.  On Nov. 26, 1984 he semi-retired and moved to Loyal.  He worked at the Loyal landfill and recycling center from 1985-1995, and at the Loyal I.G.A. for the past 12 years polishing floors.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on church council for 6 years, and was involved with the church dartball team and active adult fellowship.  He was also a member of the Lincoln School Board, in the Town of York, for many years, a member of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club and a member of the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery Board.

He is survived by his wife Ellen of Loyal; one daughter, Patsy (Jerome) Krause of Spencer; two sons: Lyn (Susan) Luchterhand and Mike (Nancy) Luchterhand both of Granton; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Vera Wuethrich of Neillsville; two brothers: Melvin(Ruth) of Loyal and Robert (Lenore) of Granton; one sister: Doreen (Don) Schmidtke of Odebolt, Iowa; one sister-in-law LaVada Langreck, of Loyal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Gerald and one granddaughter, Sarah Krause.
