Schmidt, Luanne (18 JUN 1960)

St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church at Milwaukee was the scene of a very pretty wedding which took place on June 18, 1960 at 10 o’clock a.m. when Miss Luanne Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. F. Schmidt, became the bride of Thomas A. Lukowski, son of Mrs. Joe Brylla of Reedsburg, Wis.  Rev. Monsignor John J. Grasser performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of nylon tulle with lace bodice and a chapel train.  Her fingertip veil was held in place by a crown of seed pearls and rhinstones.  She carried a bouquet of carnations with an orchid center.

Virginia Newman, the groom’s sister, acted as maid of honor.  She wore a ballerina length gown of orchid silk organza and lace.  Luellyn Schmidt, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid, and Nancy Gnudnowski, friend of the bride, wore mint green gowns identical to that of the maid of honor.  Their headpieces were crowns with veils to match their dresses and they carried bouquets of yellow and white carnations.

Margaret Lukowski, cousin of the groom, was flower girl, dressed in a floor length white gown with white headband.  Jeffrey Jeske, nephews of the groom, was ring bearer dressed in a tux.

Attending the groom was Harold Schmidt, brother of the bride, and Fred Gnudnowski, friend of the bride and groom.  The groom and his attendants wore tuxes.

Mrs. Miller, a soloist from the parish sang "Mother at Your Feet is Kneeling," while the bride placed a bouquet of flowers on the Blessed Virgin altar.

Ushers were David Gnudnowski and Earl Gricar.

Breakfast was served to about 85 relatives and friends at 11:30 at Reno Garden and a reception was held at 8 o’clock in the evening for about 400 friends and relatives, also at Reno Gardens.

The bride’s mother attended the wedding in an embroidered mint green silk organza with white accessories and the groom’s mother in turquoise silk print with white accessories.  Both wore carnation corsages.  The bride was a 1956 graduate of Thorp High School and for the past four years was employed in the office of Sealtest Foods in Milwaukee, and the groom was a 1955 graduate from Riverside High School, Milwaukee, and is employed by the Milwaukee County Park Commission.

After their honeymoon at Plum Lake in Sayner, Wis., they will make their home in Milwaukee.

Relatives and friends attending the wedding were from Thorp, Stanley, Eland, Kenosha, Lake Geneva, Janesville, Lake Mills, Milwaukee and Chisholm, Minn.
