Dankemyer, Christian (3 September 1822 - 18 November 1911)

Christian Dankemyer died at his home in Town of Fremont, Saturday evening at 8:45, November 18, 1911.  He was born September 3, 1822 at Benzegerode, Horts Mountain, Germany.

Deceased was married 3 times; first he was married to Hannah Hartman in 1851, and to them were born three children, August, Hannah and William. After the death of his first wife he was married to Elizabeth Mahnes in 1866. To them were born one daughter and three sons, namely: Minnie, John, Herman and Frank. Again death robbed him of his life’s companion and in 1879 was married to Martha Wagner. To them was born one son, Fred.

Mr. Dankemyer came from Germany in 1868 with wife and three children, August, William and Minnie, first settling in Sheboygan County.  In 1882, he moved to Clark County and located on the farm where he died.  He always enjoyed excellent health until about 6 years ago, when on account of old age his health began to decline. During this time he was confined to the house most of the time and during the last two years to his bed.  Last Friday morning he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he scarcely gained consciousness, medical aid being of no avail.

Deceased leaves to mourn his death: his widow and seven children, August, Herman, and Fred of Chili, Hannah, Mrs. Spanenberg of Germany, Minnie, Mrs. John Bagly of Cowman, N. D., John and Frank of Colby.

The funeral took place Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Fremont town hall, Rev. Lord of the Presbyterian Church of Marshfield officiating.  Interment was made in the Fremont Cemetery.  The pall bearers were H. W. Davis, Wm. Kempin, Wm. Nebel, August Prust, John Fraser and Mr. Owens.
