Kuhn, Roberta J. (4 JUN 1960)

Msgr. William H. Merchant of Seven Dolors Catholic Church officiated at the double ring ceremony and nuptial mass which united Miss Roberta Joan Kuhn and F.T. (Irish) Szatalowicz in marriage Saturday, June 4, 1960.

An arrangement of red and white peonies at the altar formed a springtime setting for the 9 o’clock ceremony which was preceded by organ selections by Miss Ruth Ann Nickles, who accompanied Miss Jeanne Silva.  Miss Silva sang "Ave Maria" and "Panis Angelicus."  As the bride place a bouquet of blue and white flowers at the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Miss Silva sang, "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother."  Altar boys, Mike Kuhn, Tom Quinn, John Irvine, Ricky Anderson and Johnny Winter also lighted the candles.

Escort for the bride was her father, Mr. Rudy Kuhn, who gave her in marriage.  Her gown was of white embroidered net over taffeta, with a floor length bouffant skirt made of three tiers of wide lace.  The bodice tapered to a point in front.  The Sabrina neckline and cap sleeves were edged with scalloped lace and her mitts were of lace also.

The fingertip veil was of nylon tulle falling from a tiara of pearls and sequins.  She carried a white satin and net covered prayer book, on which was centered a cluster of red roses.  Streamers that formed the shower were tied with covers, knots and red roses.  Her jewelry was a pair of pearl earrings, gift of the groom.  Karen Kay Kuhn and Linda Kuhn, sisters of the bride, were her attendants.  Both wore sheath dresses of aqua polished cotton.  The overskirt of Karen Kay’s was of a deeper blue silk organza.  Linda’s overskirt was a shade matching her dress.  Both waists were tied with gows of organza.  The girls mitts were of aqua and they carried colonial bouquets of daisies, aqua and white, tied with white ribbons streamers.

James Aumann of Beloit, Wis., was best man.  Dan Shanahan, Salina was groomsman.  The two ushers were David Reisterer of Schilling AFB, Salina, and Wayne Gifford, brother-in-law of the groom, Rockford, Ill.  The men, including the bride’s father, all wore dark trousers and white coats.  Their ties and cummerbunds matched their maroon carnation boutonnieres.

Mrs. Kuhn wore a sheath of pink lace with pink taffeta underneath, and a pink hat and additional accessories of bone color.

Her corsage was of petite roses in soft pink shades.  Mrs. Szatalowicz, wearing a blue sheath and hat, had a corsage of red roses.

A reception in the Gold Room of the Wareham Hotel followed the ceremony.  Mrs. Wayne Gifford, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Bud Walsdorf, Houston, Tex., sister os the groom, cut the wedding cake.  The bride’s table was a white box type square covered with net over satin.  Candelabra holding aqua tapers flanked the four tier cake.  A garland of roses in graded shades of pink and bluebirds for happiness accented the cake on the top, of which were an ornament….(some of my article was cut off)…

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Szatalowicz of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., has a B.S. Degree from Kansas State University, 1959, and is now a senior in the school of veterinary medicine, KSU.

Out of town guests: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Szatalowicz, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schmidt, Yvonne Schmidt, Olive Hedler, Thorp,… (the rest of my copy was cut off)
