Huckstead, Erma (27 October 1907 - 29 November 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the United Church of Christ for Mrs. Harold (Erma) Huckstead, 58, of Neillsville, who died here Monday. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Huckstead was born October 27, 1907, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Emma (Roehrig) Loomis, in Gilmanton. She attended elementary school there.  When she was 12 years of age her parents moved to Mondovi, where she was graduated from high school.

 

Following her graduation she attended the School of Nursing in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, from which she was graduated in 1927.  She worked at the hospital and did special duty work until her marriage to Harold Huckstead on November 14, 1933, in Mondovi.  Mr. and Mrs. Huckstead lived on the Huckstead farm east of Neillsville until June, 1965, when they made their home in Memorial Home.  Mrs. Huckstead, who had been a 4-H leader for many years, had been ill for the last year.

 

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Nemitz of Grafton; a step-daughter, Mrs. C. H. (Ardith) Murphy of Wausau; a step-son, Lowell Huckstead of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Lola) Evans of Mondovi; two brothers, Willard Loomis of South Milwaukee and Douglas Loomis of Waupaca; and by 10 grandchildren.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held December 1 from the United Church of Christ in Neillsville for Mrs. Harold (Erma) Huckstead, who died November 29 following a lingering illness. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Delbert C. Struble, Clarion Counsell, C. A. Paulson, Casper Marty, Elmer Buddenhagen and Arthur Nemitz.

 

"The Lord is My Shepherd" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul," were sung by Mrs. Robert D. Peters accompanied by Miss Eileen Zank.

 

People from out of town here for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Huckstead and family of South Bend, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Murphy and family of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nemitz and son of Grafton; Willard Loomis of South Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Loomis of Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. George Loomis, Mrs. Lloyd Loomis, and Mrs. Alton Johnson of Mondovi; Ruth and Merwyn Beyer of Manitowoc; Mrs. Lola Evans and Mrs. Norman Johnson of Mondovi; and Neil W. Johnston of Loyal.

 

Many friends and neighbors from Pleasant Ridge and the Granton area also attended.
