Loppnow, William (22 FEB 1876-26 JULY 1958)

 

William Loppnow, 82, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 8:20 a.m. Friday of old age complications.

 

He was born at Hartford, Feb. 22, 1976. He was married to Mary Ruehlow at Hartford, Feb. 28, 1899.

 

In 1905 they moved to Clark County and farmed in the town of Beaver for five years. They then moved to a farm in the town of Eaton where they lived till 1915 when they moved to Loyal. Here he ran a feed store for a number of years. He also owned the Loyal Dray Line and hauled freight and mail. For a while he owned and operated the Standard Oil Company Agency. For 27 years he served as assessor for Loyal. He retired from active duties three years ago.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and funeral services were held there at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. John Pfohl officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Colen Gotter, Bert Brown, Fredinand Gotter, Ben Kadolph, Jake Hensler, Sr., and John Olson.

 

The hymns, "Heaven is My Home" and "Let Me Go", were sung by Mrs. Ervin Dux and Mrs. Verland Dux. "What God Ordains is Always Good," was sung by the congregation. Miss Carol Noeldner was organist.

 

Mr. Loppnow is survived by his wife and one son, Karl, both of Loyal; and a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Martha) Voss of Horicon; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death were a son, Anton, and a son who died in infancy, also one brother and two sisters.

 

Those who came from away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Voss and son, Chester, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Voss, and Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Modrow, Horicon; Mrs. Fredrick Dettsmann, Watertown; Miss Ruth Voss, Aurora, Ill.; Mr. Henry Zickuhr, Mrs. Dan Regan, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hepp, Hartford; Mrs. Bertha Fredrick, Beaver Dam; Mrs. Esther Mass and Mr. Gilbert Falkendahl, Hustisford;  Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trilten and Mary Ann, Fort Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gerfin, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sweeney, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Catlin, Eau Claire.
