Krohn, Dr. John Irwin (2 July 1929 - 14 October 1965)

Merrillan residents and particularly patients of Dr. John Krohn were stunned to learn of his sudden death last Thursday. An autopsy was conducted at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, where it was determined that death was caused by pneumonia.  Dr. Krohn had been dead from four to six hours when found.

John Irwin Krohn was born in Black River Falls, July 2, 1929, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Irwin Krohn.  He attended the Black River Falls Schools, graduating with the class of 1947.  He was graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., in 1951, and Northwestern Medical College at Chicago in 1955.  He interned at St. Luke’s Hospital, Chicago.

Dr. John joined the Krohn clinic and hospital staff in Black River Falls in the summer of 1956, and with the exception of two years (from January 1957 to January 1959) spent in the Air Force at Sioux City, Ia., he had been a continuous member of the staff.

Dr. John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frederick. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Virginia Philpot of North St. Paul, Minn.

Private graveside services were held Saturday at Riverside Cemetery.
