Krebs, Otto (18 FEB 1865 - 21 APR 1941)

 

 

OTTO KREBS PASSES AWAY ON MONDAY

 

Had Lived In the Town of Sherman 4 ½ Miles Southwest of Spencer for the Past Forty Years.

 

Otto Krebs, a resident of the town of Sherman for the past 40 years, and one of the better known farmers of this section of the state, died at his farm home, Monday, April 21, 1941, at 9:25 a.m.  Mr. Krebs had been in ill health for the past four years and the immediate cause of his death was a stroke.  The deceased had attained the age of 76 years, two months and three days.

 

Otto Krebs was born in Germany on Feb. 18, 1865 and came to the United States when 19 years of age.  On January 27, 1889, at Manchester, Wis., and forty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Krebs moved to the town of Sherman where the deceased had devoted his time to farming up to the last year, when ill health caused him to retire.

 

Surviving Mr. Krebs is his wife, Emma; four sons and five daughters, Wm. Krebs, Beloit; Mrs. Bertha Hulce, Rhinelander; Clarence Krebs, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Martha Damon, Beloit; Mrs. Minnie Gaffney, Marshfield; Ernest Krebs, at home; Carl Krebs, Kalispell, Montana; Mrs. May Krueger, Beloit, and Mrs. Ella Hammett, Beloit; some brothers and sisters in Germany; 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at the Swarthout Funeral Home in Spencer Wednesday afternoon, April 23, at 2:00 o’clock, the Rev. J. A. Olson of Unity, in charge.  Interment was made in the West Spencer cemetery.  Pall bearers were Wm. Fisher, Henry Fisher, Albert Vanderhoff, Joe Stochek, Albert Chamberlain and Edward Voelker.
