Gustman, William (21 OCT 1863 - 17 FEB 1941)

 

 

Wm. Gustman, 77 passed away at the Marshfield hospital on Monday, Feb. 17, 1941, where he was taken a week previous very ill with double pneumonia and a stroke of paralysis.  He had been unconscious since that time, never once opening his eyes.  His two daughters, Mrs. Albert Frederickson, Greenwood, and Mrs. Oscar Boock, Waterloo, remained with him until the end.

 

William Carl Gustman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Gustman was born in Germany Oct. 21, 1863, and came to the United States with his parents, when he was 12 years old.  The Gustmans settled in Morristown, Wis., where William received his education.  He was married there June 19, 1888 to Anna Mueller.  After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gustman lived in Wayside for 27 years and then came to Spencer.  Deceased was for some time janitor of the Spencer School.

 

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Albert Fredrickson of Greenwood, and Mrs. Oscar Boock of Waterloo, Wis.; two sons, Arthur of Spencer and Ervin of Blue River; two sisters, Mrs. Tina Kroll of Cadott and Mrs. Bertha Schinke, DePere; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Preceding him in death were his wife, three children and a sister who died in Sheboygan three weeks ago.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock last Thursday in Trinity Lutheran church, Spencer, Rev. A. c. Stapel officiating.  On Friday the body was taken to his former home in Wayside for interment.

 

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fredrickson, Bernice and Ralph, of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Boock and Marguerite, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Geske, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Gustman, Mrs. Fred Croll, Mrs. Aug. Gustman, Cadott; Mrs. M. Hentze, Sheboygan; Ervin Gustman and Matt Goplin, Blue River; Mrs. Delmer Broadhagen, Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Leitzert and son, Greenwood.
