Foemmel, Janice (Marriage - 12 June 1965)

Janice Ann Foemmel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Foemmel of Rt. 2, Granton, became the bride of Joseph James Mesar, also of Granton, Rt. 2, at ceremonies performed Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church at Granton by the Rev. Fred C. Benecke.

Their vows were spoken in a double ring ceremony performed before an altar decorated with a bouquet of white ‘mums, two chancel bouquets of blue carnations and white gladioli, and pews marked by white bows and lilies-of-the-valley.

The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a floor-length gown of nylon organza over taffeta, with three-quarter-length sleeves and a scoop neckline.  Appliqués of re-embroidered lace adorned the skirt front, bodice and sleeves and the detachable chapel train. The skirt was semi-bouffant, and she wore a queen’s crown of pearls and crystal, held by a bouffant veil of sheer illusion.  She carried a colonial bouquet of red roses and white carnations, accented by rosebuds on white ribbon streamers.

The bride’s sister, Miss Joan Foemmel of Granton, was maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Don Riedel of Eau Claire, Mrs. Loren Wandrasch of Winona, Minn., and Miss Sandra Kurth of Wausau.

Bestman was the groom’s brother, William Mesar of Granton. Groomsmen were Don Riedel of Eau Claire, Larry Sternitzky of the Duluth, Minn., AFB and Tom Gregorich of Deerbrook. Ushers were Dale Riedel and Harlan Schnabel of Granton, Wayne Foemmel of Neillsville and Brian Fox of Duluth, Minn. AFB.

The groom’s sister, Bonnie Mesar of Granton, carried a miniature colonial bouquet of sweetheart roses.

A reception and supper were held in the church basement, with approximately 200 present. Table decorations included a white bell centerpiece and two small blue bells over the bride’s table, and blue flowers on each table. A dance was held that evening at a ballroom near Neillsville.

The newlyweds are on a wedding trip to Mackinac Island. They will be at home afterward at 617 East 8th Street, Duluth, Minn.

The bride was graduated from Granton High School in 1962, and has completed her junior year at Stout State University, Menomonie. The groom also is a graduate of Granton High School with the class of 1962, and currently is stationed in Duluth with the Air Force.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mesar of Rt. 2, Granton.
