Mrs. Amy Lewerenz returned Sunday from Madison, where she spent the weekend with her son, The Rev. Arnold Lewerenz, and his family. Saturday evening she attended a play, "Midsummer’s Night’s Dream," given by the high school and in which her grandson had a role.

 

Mayor John C. Brandt returned home last week.  He had been a hospital patient for six days.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Hemp of La Crosse spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Oscar DeMert, bringing with them Pfc. Karen Worsham, who will spend two weeks with her parents, before leaving April 12 for Germany. Callers at the DeMert home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoff of Marshfield, Mrs. Ella Stucki, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dux, and the Donald Shaw family.

 

Walter and Wendell Roder of Waukesha, who came to attend the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Carl Roder of Loyal, called at the Oscar DeMert home one day last week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Syth returned Friday to Jim Falls after spending several weeks with their brother-in-law, Walter Stabnow. They plan to return to the Stabnow home in two weeks.

 

Arthur Carl entered the Veterans Hospital in Madison a week ago for a routine checkup. He plans to be there at least another week.

 

Residents of the Subke’s home were entertained Thursday evening by David Hoppa and his orchestra.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Meihack and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Zank and family drove to Merrill Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. William Meier, former Neillsville residents.

 

Dan Brewer suffered a stroke at his home last Thursday evening.  He was taken to Memorial Hospital for care. Mr. Brewer recently underwent major surgery and had suffered a light heart attack a few weeks ago.

 

John Carl and two children of Racine arrived Saturday afternoon for a weekend visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carl.  He returned to Racine Monday, leaving the children with his parents until Easter.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Matt Gassen and family left Friday for a weekend visit at the Matt Gassen, Sr., and Robert Fjerstad homes in La Crosse. Saturday, they attended the wedding of Mr. Gassen’s brother, Reggie.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson and Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Naedler were guests March 23 at the Calvin Swenson home for a dinner celebrating the third birthday of their granddaughter, Kathy Swenson.

 

Guests several days last week at the John Gullickson home were their daughters, Mrs. Melford Catlin of Milwaukee and Mrs. Wilbur Bardell of Waukegan, Ill.
