Kitzhaber, Lawrence Andrew (24 February 1885 - 14 February 1965)

 

Lawrence Andrew Kitzhaber, 79, died Sunday morning at his home 2 ½ miles northeast of Greenwood.  He had been in failing health since November.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Edward Hartung officiated.  Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  The Hill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Mr. Kitzhaber was born February 24, 1885, in Norway, Ia.  On November 28, 1911, he was married in Cedar Rapids, Ia., to Mable McDowell. They came to Greenwood in 1920 from Ryan, Ia., and settled on the farm they presently lived on.

 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a former trustee, past president of the Holy Name Society, third degree Knights of Columbus, charter member of Lady of Fatima Counsel, No. 4963.  He received a 50-year pin in the Knights of Columbus a few years ago as an honorary member.

 

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Greg (Geneive) Rogillio of Greenwood, Mrs. Richard (Catherine) Deiler of Chicago, Mrs. Calvin (Dolores) Cornwell of St. Paul Park, Mrs. Mike (Lorraine) Klapatauskas of Willard, Mrs. Wallace (Peggy) Brey of Neillsville, and Mrs. James (JoAnn) Suda of Gurnee, Ill.; three sons, Raymond of Mosinee, and Bernard and Ronald of Greenwood; 32 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Josie Hakness of Luck and Mrs. Katie Bowen of Davenport, Ia.
