Steinberg, Laura (15 November 1890 - 8 November 1964)

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville for Mrs. Otto Steinberg, 73, who died suddenly November 8 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, Minn.  The Rev. Norman Lindloff officiated.  Burial was made in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Globe.

Mrs. Steinberg, the former Laura Dudei, was the daughter of the late John and Caroline (Weise) Dudei. She was born November 15, 1890, in Clark County. She attended rural schools and worked at home.

On April 22, 1908, she was married to Otto Steinberg in Neillsville. They farmed for some time and in 1920 purchased the former Columbia Store, which they operated until 1935. They then moved to Fairchild and farmed in that area until 1945, when they moved to Neillsville.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Steinberg is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Martha) Jankousky of Burlington, Mrs. Edna Cummings of San Diego, Cal., and Mrs. Victor (Hazel) Schwartz of Truman, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. John (Ella) Schwichtenberg of West Bend; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Theodore Schoenherr, Herbert Kurth, Edwin Moser, Clifford Karl, Frederick Quast and Eugene Jepsen.

Victor Lehmann accompanied the seventh and eighth grade children of St. John’s Lutheran School as they sang, "I’m But a Stranger Here" and "For Me to Live is Jesus."

People from out of town attending the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jankousky and Judith Jankousky of Burlington; Mrs. Edna Cummings of San Diego, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schwartz of Truman, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Schwichtenberg and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schwichtenberg, of West Bend; Mrs. Emma Hauge of King; Mrs. Theresa Foster of Fairchild; and Maice Foster, Colby.
