Bower, Leonard (29 JAN 1888 - 9 APR 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Withee Methodist Church for Leonard O. Bower, 74, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died April 9, 1963.  The Rev. Gene Carlson officiated and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Lester Himes, George Burmeister, Einar Finnala, George Telford, Charles Hautamaki and Christian Rasmussen.

 

Mrs. Ethel Johnson and Mrs. Opal Martinson, accompanied by Mrs. Dorothy Rabska, sang "The Old rugged Cross" and "The Lord is My Shepherd."

 

Mr. Bower was born Jan. 29, 1888, in Garner, Iowa, and was married Feb. 20, 1908, to Mabel Farnham in North Dakota.  They came to the Withee area and later lived in Cornell and Jim Falls.  They returned to this area about five years ago.

 

Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Margaret) Boehn, Wausau; Mrs. William (Edith) Niemi, Greenwood, and Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Rasmussen and Mrs. Fred (Lorabel) Reynolds, Milwaukee; four sons, Albert, Owen; Harry, Bellwood, Ill.; LeRoy, Oklahoma City, Okla., and George, Merrill; 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Alvina Nelson, Forest City.

 

Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boehn and Joel, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rasmussen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reynolds and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bower, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bower, Bellwood, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Bower and family, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. George Bower, Merrill; Harry Farnom, Arthur, N.D.; Albert Farnhorn and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bower, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Alvina Nelson, Forest City, Iowa; Mrs. Vera Grim, Odessa, Minn.; Mrs. LeRoy Lillie, Ames, Iowa; Richard Niemi, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Singras, Mrs. Margie Stickney and Donald Sargeant, Jim Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Viggo Rasmussen, Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Lance Madsen, Jim Falls, and other relatives and friends from Withee and the surrounding areas.
