Jensen, Jens A. (16 JUL 1882 - 7 OCT 1962)

 

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 10 for Jens A. Jensen, age 80, who passed away on Oct. 7th, 1962 due to old age complications at the Havenet Nursing Home in Owen.  The Rev. Beryl Knudsen officiated at the burial ceremony from the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, and interment was made at Riverside Cemetery by the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Elli, Sig Borgeson, Owen, Melin, Carl Pedersen, Einar Pedersen and Fred Beck, with honorary pallbearers being Sam Anderson, Jens Anderson, Christ Frost and Andrew Olsen.  The flower girls were Mrs. Chris Elli, Mrs. Fred Beck, Mrs. Alfred Knudsen, and Miss Helga Anderson.

 

Jens A. Jensen was born July 16, 1882 in Denmark.  He came to the United States in 1899 and settled in Ringstead, Iowa.  In 1908 he was joined in marriage to Anna Christina Nielsen and they lived there for 10 years.  In 1918 they moved to Wisconsin and operated a farm north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).  He was a member of the school board in the town of Hixon, a member of the Withee Shipping Association for 17 years, served as treasurer of the cemetery board for 20 years and was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church.  His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 1955.

 

He is survived by three sons, Arnold of Eau Claire, Leonard of Withee, and Erling of Cedarburg; a daughter, Mrs. E. (Mildred) Richwald of Minneapolis, and 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
