Cass, Lempi (1890 - 8 OCT 1962)

 

After a lingering illness of many months Mrs. Henry Cass, nee Lempi Albertina Laitoli, age 78 years and 20 days, was relieved of her suffering when she passed away on Monday, Oct. 8th, 1962, at 4:10 p.m. at her home.

 

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 1:30 p.m. from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen.  The Rev. Lauri J. Isaacson, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church of Owen, officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Frank Stone, Solomon Laakso, Antil Kallio, Harvey Wilksman, John Watson, Hjalmer Heikkenen, with flower girls being Elsie Schultz, Vienna Keskimaki, Irma Jablonic and Helen Wilksman.

 

The former Lempi Laitoli was born in 1890 in Finland.  She came to the United States and was married in Crystal Falls to Samuel Luopa.  The couple lived in Iron River, Mich., and later moved to Nevada.  He passed away a year after their marriage.

 

Her second marriage was on June 2, 1932, in Iron River, Mich., to Henry Cass.  Eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cass moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where they farmed just north of the city limits of Owen until their retirement.  He preceded her in death, passing away July 13th of this year.  They were members of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Owen.

 

Surviving her death are three children, Miss Ina Luopa of Chicago, Mrs. Arne (Lily) Laakso of Owen, and Edward Cass, Owen, and eight grandchildren.
