Adolph Luther, 73, Spencer, died early Thursday morning, may 7, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield,

He was born in the Town of Loyal on April 25, 1886.  On September 1, 1909 he married the former Clara Lindekugel in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Loyal.  They farmed in this area until 1946 when they moved to Spencer.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church here and funeral services were held in that church at  2:30 p.m. Sunday.  The Rev. Harold Oelschlager, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield, officiated at the funeral services.  Burial was in the West Spencer cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Gropp, Du Wayne Gropp, Lyle Quandt, Dale Lindekugel, Roger Schwefel, and Horace Lindekugel.

The hymns "Nearer My Go to Thee" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" were sung by the Misses Kristine, Beatrice, and Helen Noeldner with Miss Carol Noeldner as organist.

Mr. Luther is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. August (Verna) Quandt, Ashippun; Mrs. Maynard (Florence) Pingel, Seymour; Mrs. Robert (Adeline) Gropp, Spencer; Mrs. Raymond (Jeanette) Miller, Unity; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Schwan and Mrs. Albert Foelske, both of Loyal; and five brothers, Otto, Marshfield; Emil, Heafford Junction; Frank, Zurich, Mont.; Martin, Portland, Ore.; and John, Wausau.

One child and two sisters preceded him in death.
