Lewis, Loretta Laverne (Marriage - 1 August 1964)

Loretta Laverne Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lewis of Rt. 1, Chili, became the bride of Edward Edwin Grobe, also of Chili, at ceremonies performed last Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church in Granton.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. C. Benecke in a church decorated with white gladioli and white paper bells.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a wedding gown of silk illusion, with a sculptured neckline of etched-in-Venice lace. She carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses tied with a white bow.

Her attendants were Mrs. DuWayne Ziegler of Marion, matron-of-honor; Miss Susan Vasey of Menomonie, Mrs. Elmer Grobe of Chili, Mrs. Ronald Koepke of Marshfield and Mrs. Louis Grobe of Three Lakes as bridesmaids.

Louis Grobe of Three Lakes served as best man for his brother, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Grobe of Chili.  Groomsmen were Donald Spry and Elmer Grobe of Chili, DuWayne Ziegler of Marion and Ronald Koepke of Marshfield. Ushers were Edwin Meissner, Dwight Ziegler and Russell Guilliame; (A blotch at end of this name, spelling in question).

Miss Laurie Dee Ziegler of Marion was flower girl, and Gregory Grobe of Three Lakes served as ringbearer.

Nuptial music was furnished by Gary Bersell of Chili on the organ, and by William Chambers, Loyal, as vocalist.

A buffet dinner was served at 4:30 p.m. to approximately 350 guests in the church basement. A wedding dance was held in the evening in Marshfield.

The bride is a recent graduate of Stout State Institute. She plans to teach home economics this fall in John Muir junior high school in Wausau.  She was graduated from Granton High School in 1960.  The groom is a 1958 graduate of Marshfield senior high and presently is a senior in Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point.

Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, Mackinac Island and into Canada, the newlyweds will make their home in Wausau.
