Buechel, Charles L. "Bud" (1 November 1924 –10 January 2012) With Flag

 

Charles L. "Bud" Buechel, 87, Marshfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

 

Charles was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Louisville, KY, the son of Edwin and Mary (Yates) Buechel.

 

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.  He also served in the United States Air Force Reserves for six years and then the Army National Guard until his retirement.  He also had been self-employed as a welder.

 

He married Helen Mott in 1946, and after 50 years of marriage, she died in July of 1996.  He later married Jane Sauter Reckner May 4, 1998.

 

Bud is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Jeannie (Woody) DeSwarte of Alexandria, VA, Sherri (Guy) Skorganc of New Berlin, Charles "Skip" (Linda) Buechel of St. Francis, Connie (Jeff) Menger of Greenfield, Sandy (Mike) Wenninger of Hartford and Deb (Tom) Breckenfelder of Greenfield; step-children, Pam (Ray) Melander of Merrill, Jeff (Linda) Reckner of Stratford and Cindy (Chuck) Pescinski of Spencer; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren expected this year.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, a brother, a sister and a great-grandson.

 

A private memorial service will be held at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in his name to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
