Weideman, Arthur F. (23 AUG 1917 - 16 DEC 2011)

 

Arthur F. Weideman, 94, of Abbotsford died Friday Dec. 16, 2011, at the Inn Care of Abbotsford, an assisted living center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Dr. Gary Paul will officiate. Burial will be in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Weideman, Lt. Col. Mark Mullarkey, Michael Hanson, Richard A. Goldschmidt, Aaron Klein and Shannon Grewe. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford and from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church Tuesday. 

Mr. Weideman was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Abbotsford, the son of Herbert and Tillie (Sauter) Weideman. He attended Abbotsford Public Schools. Art also served in the Army National Guard.

On Aug. 31, 1940, at St John's Lutheran Church in the town of Wein Arthur was united in marriage to the former Lydia Barts. 

Mr. Weideman was an ice man for Kalepp Brothers and a truck driver for Northwest Distributing of Abbotsford. The couple operated a dairy farm in the town of Mayville for 37 years and Art also worked as a sales representative for North-Rup King Sales for 22 years. In 1978 they moved off the farm settled in Abbotsford. 

Art was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, he also served on the Pleasant Hill school board for 11 years and the Abbotsford and Dor-Abby school boards for 16 years. 

In retirement the couple traveled extensively, enjoyed time spent with family playing cards and dancing. 

Art is lovingly survived by his wife Lydia Weideman, Abbotsford, a son, Gerald (Carol) Weideman, Abbotsford, five daughters, Janice (James) Mullarkey, New London, Darlene (Warren) Talcott, Spencer, Nancy (Richard C.) Goldschmidt, Colby, Jenny (Phillip) Ward, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Wendy (Alan) Grewe of Unity. Twenty-three grandchildren, 27 grea- grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter survive. He also has three brothers, Robert (Helen) Weideman, Curtiss, Harvey (Mary Ann) Weideman, Curtiss, James Weideman and one sister, Arlene Weideman of Dorchester surviving. 

His parents, a daughter, Carol, great-grandson Mason Grewe and sisters Vivian Ramker, Mae Harder and Joyce Weideman, preceded Art in death.
