Blake, Jo Anne M. (18 JUL 1959)

The Zion Lutheran Church at Chippewa Falls was the setting for the 2:00 p.m. marriage Saturday, July 18th, 1959 of Miss Jo Anne Marie Blake and William J. Pagel.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Blake of 323 N. Grove Street, City, and Mr. and Mrs. John Pagel, route 3, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride wore a floor length gown of traditional white.  The fitted bodice was of imported Belgian lace which extended into a peplum over a billowing skirt of nylon tulle over satin.  An iridescent tiara crown held the silk illusion veil.

She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and carnations.  Her pearl earrings were a gift of the groom.  The bride’s brother, Kenneth Blake, gave her in marriage.

Mrs. Walter Schwaner was the organist, playing the traditional wedding music.

Mrs. Kenneth Blake, sister-in-law of the bride, wore a Nile green floor length gown.  It had a fitted bodice of lace over taffeta with a matching cape.  The bouffant skirt was of net over taffeta, her jeweled tiara held a silk illusion veil.  She carried a colonial bouquet of roses and carnations.

Harold Doege, Thorp, attended the groom as best man.  Harold Sorenson and George Pagel ushered.

A reception was held following the ceremony in the church parlors for 75 guests.  Miss Joan Burzynski poured.  Mrs. Harold Sorenson cut the wedding cake and Miss Ruby Rosenthal presided at the guest book.

The mother of the bride attended her daughter’s wedding in a pink lace dress.  The groom mother wore a navy blue lace dress.  Both mother pinned corsages of pink and white flowers to their dresses.

When the young couple left on a honeymoon to Northern Wisconsin, the bride was wearing a black and white checked suit with a corsage of red roses.  When they return they will reside in Thorp.
