Zager, Peter (17 February 1891 - 2 September 1963)

Peter Zager, 72, Willard, died September 2, 1963, at the Havenett Nursing Home in Owen, where he had been a patient for five months.

Mr. Zager was born February 17, 1891, in Yugoslavia.  He came to the United States in 1909 and after several months returned to Yugoslavia, returning here in 1911 and settling in Moorhead, Minn.  He was married August 11, 1914, there to Mary Glavan.  In 1915 they moved from Moorhead to a farm near Willard.  Mrs. Zager died in August, 1959.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Anne) Merlak of Loyal and Mrs. Edward (Elsie) Perko of Willard; three sons, Peter, Jr., and Frank of Neillsville; and Robert of Thorp; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Pershern of Gilbert, Minn.; and Miss Frances Zager of Yugoslavia; three brothers, Frank of Milwaukee, Andrew of Gilbert, Minn., and Vincent of Yugoslavia.

Funeral services were held last Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. from the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. William Nikolai officiated. Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Mech, Bernard Zager, Carlton Beaver, Terrance Stutte, Edward Perko and Bill O’Black.
