Smith, Jacob (8 SEP 1879 - 26 JUN 1959)

 

Funeral services for Jacob A. Smith, 80, of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were conducted at St. Bernard’s Church in the city at nine o’clock Monday morning, June 29th by Rev. Herbert J. Hoffmann, pastor.  Mr. Smith passed away after an illness of three months at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield on Friday, June 26, 1959.

 

Jacob A. Smith was born in Streator, Ill., on Sept. 8, 1879.  He was united in marriage on May 31, 1905 to Mary Ramer at St. Bernard’s Church in Thorp.  He operated a farm in the Town of Thorp and became engaged in truck farming in a small way.

 

Besides his widow he is survived by one son, Lawrence of Thorp; two sisters, Anna Baroni of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elinor Smith of St. Paul, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Interment took place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were William Ramer, Joe Wodjyla, Gus Yahn, Henry Tiry and Francis and Bernard Mertens.
