Fabian, Herbert (03 DEC 1936-JUNE 1957)

 

Death claimed the fourth Clark County victim this year. Herbert E. Fabian, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fabian, route 1, Greenwood, early last Sunday morning following the crash of the vehicle in which he was riding about a mile east of Highway K on County H south of Loyal.

 

Fabian was a passenger in an auto driven by William J. Ehlers, 20, also route 1, Greenwood, as the two were returning home from Marshfield. The car hit. The car hit a bridge abutment. Ehlers suffered jaw injuries, cuts and bruises and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Neillsville for treatment. The exact cause of the crash has not been determined yet, but police say the driver may have fallen asleep.

 

Investigating the accident were Sheriff Ray Kutsche, Coroner Robert Lulloff and Traffic Officers Harry Frantz and Dale Schultz.

 

Funeral services for Herbert Fabian were conducted in Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

 

The Rev. J. Pfohl conducted the services. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

 

The hymns "Abide With Me " and "Nearer My God To Thee" were sung by Mrs. Erwin Dux and Mrs. Verland Dux. At the organ was Miss Carol Noeldner.

 

Pallbearers were Jerry Rhode, Dick Rhode, Lynn Lawrenz, James Turnquist, Gary Baird and Clarence Rogstad.

 

Herbert was born at Greenwood December 3, 1936 and has always lived on a farm on route 1, Greenwood. He received his education at the Eaton Center grade school and the Greenwood High School. He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fabian and one brother, Frank.
