Presented in marriage by her father, Miss Joan Leona Peroni of Granton, became the bride of Donald E. Benedict of Loyal in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Virgil Holmes at two o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Methodist Church at York Center before an altar banked with baskets of flowers. Parents of the couple are Mr. John Peroni of Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Benedict of Loyal.

 

Preceding the bride to the altar was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Donald Pinkerton of Loyal, matron of honor, who was dressed in a pale pink nylon and lace formal and carried a bouquet of feathered carnations and yellow roses.

 

Miss Joyce Bladl of Granton, a friend of the bride was chosen as bridesmaid. Her formal was of light lavender nylon and net lace and her flowers were the same as the matron of honor.

 

Serving the groom as best man was his cousin Jerry Kronberger, while his friend Robert Tichy acted as groomsman.

 

Performing the ushering duties were the groom’s brother Larry Benedict and a cousin William Lulloff. Songs for the nuptials included "Oh Promise Me", and "Because" sung by Nyle Benedict with Mrs. Kronberger his accompanist at the piano.

 

The bride entered the church in a floor length gown of French Rosepoint and misty nylon tulle over celeste satin, with tucked bodice, Queen Anne collar, and long sleeves of lace.

 

Her finger tip veil was caught to a tiny white cap. She carried a white Bible upon which was placed a white orchid and lilies of the valley.

 

A wedding supper was served to one hundred guests at 4:30 in the York hall with a reception following in the evening. The tables were decorated with a beautiful wedding cake and wedding bells adorned the bride’s table.

 

The bride is a graduate of Granton High School. The groom is a graduate of Loyal High School and recently graduated from Eau Claire State Teachers College. The bride is employed as a stenographer at Eau Claire Book and Stationery Co. in Eau Claire.

 

The groom will enter the armed forces  in July and is currently employed at the York Center Cheese Factory. Their honeymoon will be spent in Northern Wisconsin and Canada.

 

The groom’s mother was attired in a white and pink silk dress with a lavender orchid pinned at the shoulder and her accessories were white. The brides aunt Mrs. Elsie Peroni wore a dress of lavender with white accessories and a lavender orchid at the shoulder.

 

Those from out of town attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hendricks, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Peroni, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kewnapacky, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Verlyn Sloniker, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Peroni, Jim Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Wibur Rundle and daughter Janice, Racine; Mrs. Belle Smith and son Robert, Loyal; Mrs. Mortimer and Jay Davis, Neillsville.
