Smitke, Mr. & Mrs. Frank (Gold - 2 AUG 1958)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smitke of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., observed their golden wedding Aug. 2, 1958.  They, with their family and friends, attended mass at 9:00 o’clock at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Hoffman offering mass.  Anna Haas and Frank Smitke were married at St. Bernard’s Church Aug. 2nd, 1908 by Father Arentz.  Mrs. Alfred Kaas and George Haas, sister and brother of the bride, who attended the couple, were also present for the occasion on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Smitke wore a green and gold Dacron dress with a rose corsage.  Mr. Smitke wore a blue suit and a white rose boutonniere.  Mr. and Mrs. Smitke are in good health and are still farming north of Thorp.

 

The honored couple have four children, Mrs. Elmer (Regina) Dodmead, twins, Mrs. John (Cecelia) Bryan, Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Matousek of Neillsville and one son, Frederick of Thorp, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 

A delicious turkey dinner and all the trimmings were served by the American Legion Auxiliary to 77 guests, a beautiful tier decorated cake made by their daughter, Mrs. Frank Matousek.  The tables were beautifully decorated with a centerpiece of Rainbow of Fortune with $50 at each end of the rainbow and 2 large bouquets of gold roses and large cake, also bouquets of cut flowers.

 

A reception from 2:00 to 5:00 was held in the afternoon, 200 attending the dance in the evening.

Smitke and family, Miss Kate Smitke, Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Miller, Duluth, Miss Amelia Haas, Mrs. Elizabeth Leiby, Menasha, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanamann and family, Appleton, Byron Boie, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matousek, Jr., Miss Beverly Ann Matousek, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Seliger, Miss Betty Lou Mack, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Winter and daughter, Milwaukee, Miss Jennie Blackwell, Kenneth Dodmead, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Schultz and family, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
