Kaltinger, John, Sr. (19 March 1879 - 9 April 1963)

John Kaltinger, Sr., 84, died at his home in Greenwood April 9.  He had been in poor health for some time and was confined to his bed for two months.

Mr. Kaltinger was born March 19, 1879, in Yugoslavia.  In May of 1904, he came to the United States and settled in Murray, Utah, where he worked in the ore and copper smelter for 10 years.  In 1914, they came to Willard and lived on a farm west of there, until they retired in 1952, when they moved into Greenwood.

He was married October 7, 1905, to Mary Cadez in Salt Lake City, Utah.  They celebrated their golden wedding here in 1958.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Slovenian National Benefit Society.

Surviving besides his wife are five daughters, Mrs. Mike (Mary) Fleishhaker and Mrs. Ella Langer of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Stanley (Josephine) Mikottis of Bensenville, Ill., Mrs. Joe (Louise) Morgal of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. B (Lillian) Sohlberg of Dundee, Ill.; and four sons, John, Jr., of Greenwood, Rudolph of Lombard, Ill., Alfred of Elmhurst, Ill., and Alvin Kaltinger of Willard. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home.  Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery in Willard.

A requiem mass was held at 9 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Edward Hartung officiated.
