Marden, Glenn Carlyle (29 November 1894 - 14 March 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant for Glenn Marden, 67, of Neillsville, who died last Thursday following a long illness. The Rev. Evan Dieck officiated with burial made in the parish cemetery.

 

Glenn Carlyle Marden, son of the late Louis and Lucy Marden, was born November 29, 1894, in Oshkosh.  He received his education there and moved to the Chili area as a young man.

 

On January 12, 1917, he entered the navy and was released June 3, 1917.  On June 5, 1918, he enlisted in the army and was discharged January 3, 1919.  He worked in the Chili area for many years.

 

On July 12, 1943, he was married to the former Nora Krause of Neillsville, in the Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.  Following their marriage Mr. Marden worked in Marshfield a few years before moving to Oshkosh.  About 12 years ago the Marden family returned to Neillsville to make their home.  He had been in failing health for several years.

 

He is survived by his wife; two small sons, Terry and Ricky, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Mae) Alithorpe of Clinton, Mrs. Leona Durkee of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Lawrence (June) Wagie of Watertown; a brother, Louis of Oshkosh; and his step-father, Alvin Peep of Watertown.

 

The Bergemann Funeral Home made the funeral arrangements.

 

Pallbearers were: Clark Brooks, Ernest Lustig, Ernest Ott, Herman Ratsch, Clarence Riedel and Louis Riedel.

 

Out of town people attending were: from Neillsville; Mrs. Glenn Marden and Terry and Ricky; Mrs. Edna Ratsch, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Northup, Paul Wagner, Mrs. Ronnie Hainz, Linda Grottke, Mrs. Eva Grottke, Minnie White, Herman Ratsch, Mrs. David Bragg, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ott.

 

Others attending, included: Ernest Lustig, Marshfield; Mrs. Leona Durkee, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Marden and Lewis Marden, Jr., Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wagie and Lyle, Watertown; Mrs. Mae Alithorpe, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schnabel and Dale of Chili; Mrs. George Peternel and Frances Riedel of North Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Morton Clark of Alma Center; Marvin Worchel, Lake Villa, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Riedel, Beloit; Mrs. Louise Riedel of Wisconsin (other names cut off).
