Kenney, William R. (15 MAR 1892 - 12 JUN 1958)

 

Wm. R. Kenney, 66, a former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, died at his home at Marshfield of a heart attack while viewing television about ten o’clock Thursday evening.

 

Mr. Kenney was born at Askeaton, Brown Co., Wis., on March 15, 1892.  In 1895 the family came to Thorp and located on a farm south of here.  William attended the local elementary schools and graduated from Thorp High School in 1910, after which he taught school and completed courses at Wausau Business College and Oshkosh Normal School.  He went to Marshfield in 1913 and worked with the P.J. Schafer Cheese Co. for a year before he entered the employ of the Roddis Lumber & Veneer Co.  he served in the Army in World War I.  In 1921 he entered the insurance business which he continued until death.

 

Mr. Kenney took an active part in the American Legion and various civic enterprises and served as Legion district commander, department vice commander in 1944.  He was on the National Executive committee of the Legion for four years and was veteran’s services officer for several years past.

 

He was married July 19, 1919 at Rhinelander to Mona Aker who survives him.  Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Kathryn) Hermsen, Oconto; Mrs. Webster (Joan) Zimmel, Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Kenney, Milwaukee, and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: James Kenney, Roselle, Ill., Raymond Kenney, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Elmer Schaefer, Armstrong, Iowa; Mrs. William Ghlonzoli, and Mrs. William Radcliff, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Alfred Baldeschwiler, Thorp.

 

Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday and burial was made with full military honors in Hillside Cemetery at Marshfield.  The Rev. L.H. Timmerhand was officiant at the Solemn Requiem Mass, assisted by Rev. John Rossiter, Eau Claire, state…(the rest of my copy was cut off)
