McManus, Jean Ruth (10 MAY 1958)

Miss Jean Ruth McManus of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert McManus of Gilman, became the bride of Roman C. Michalski of Milwaukee, in a ceremony performed by Father Gerard Wilczewski, first assistant at St. Alexander Catholic Church at Milwaukee, at 9:00 o’clock Saturday, morning, May 10, 1958, in the presence of about 100 relatives and friends.

The couple was attended by Robert Topczewski of Milwaukee and Mrs. Jean Gaffney, sister of the bride, of De Forest, Wis.  Bridesmaids were Patricia and Gertrude Michalski, sister of the groom, of Milwaukee.  Ushers were Jerry Gaffney, brother-in-law of the bride of De Forest, Alois Michalski, the groom’s brother, Tony Kalinowski, the groom’s cousin, and Norbert Schultz of Milwaukee.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Harold Maake of Gilman, was attired in a white gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over white satin.  The all lace bodice featured a stand-up Peter Pan collar with open work designs outlined in brilliants and had long sleeves.  The very bouffant skirt was fashioned in four rows of lace appliqued inserts, was floor length and ended in a train.  Her veil was of imported French illusion silk with lace appliques and was secured by a triple crown of imported brilliants and pearls.  Her wedding bouquet was of white tea roses, white carnations and white stephanotis.

Jean Gaffney, matron of honor, wore a plain red strapless gown of imported nylon with fitted bodice and white satin cummerbund.  Her full bouffant shirt was brought out by hoops and she wore a plain red jacket with Queen Ann collar, red and white dotted gauntlets and a large hat.

The bridesmaids were dressed in waltz length gowns of red dotted on white with background of imported nylon, strapless, fitted bodice and red satin cummerbund.  Their full bouffant skirts were brought out by hoops and they wore dotted jackets with Queen Ann collars, large hats and gauntlets to match.  Their bouquets were red and white carnations.

The bridegroom wore a white dinner jacket, dark trousers and white carnation boutonnieres.

Following the ceremony a breakfast, dinner and a reception was held at the Veterans Park Hall where guests to the number of 300 assembled.

The bride is a graduate of Gilman High School and has been employed in clerical work with Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee.  The groom graduated from Pulaski High School and has been working in the parts department of International Harvester Co., in Milwaukee.  The honeymooners spent a week in northern Wisconsin and are now residing in Milwaukee at 3424 South 18th St.
