Hansman, Arthur (14 JAN 1894 - 9 MAY 1958)

 

Arthur Hansman, 64, former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) businessman, passed away suddenly Friday morning, May 9, 1958, at his home in Coolidge, Ariz.

 

The body was shipped here, arriving Tuesday morning at the Thorp Funeral Home where funeral services were held at the Chapel, at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. John Salveson of Stanley officiating.  Masonic services were conducted by Ray Arndt, Worshipful Master of Thorp Lodge No. 264 F. & A.M. at the grave, and military honors were accorded the deceased by members of Post No. 118 of the Thorp American Legion, Harry Badzinski serving as chaplain.  Mr. Hansman was a World War I vet.

 

The deceased was the son of the late August and Minnie Hansman of Reseburg and village of Thorp, and was born in the Township of Reseburg on Jan. 14, 1894 on the homestead.

 

He operated the Hansman-Johnson Hardware here in the old Mosher building in partnership with his step-father, the late Oscar Johnson from 1913 to 1943, selling out the store to Charles Fisher at that time.  He moved to Rice Lake where he resided until last Fall when he went to Arizona for his health and where he enjoyed seven happy months.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sophia Pearl, one brother, Harry Hansman of Delavan, one sister, Mrs. Jack (Meta) Kondell of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was laid to rest in Sylvan Cemetery in Reseburg.  Masons acting as pallbearers were: Harry Quelle, Ed Woodworth, Chet Glashof, Ernest Staus, Wm. J. Klouda and Kenneth Lindquist.
