Sparks, Thomas (12 July 1845 - 8 February 1911)

Thomas Sparks, a highly respected citizen of the Town of Sherwood has answered the final summons. Mr. Sparks was born at Liberty, Sullivan Co., N. Y., July 12, 1845 and died February 8th, 1911, at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 26 days.  He moved from York State to Plainfield, Wis., in 1868 and in 1869 was married to Miss Bloomy Ellis at Plainfield, Wis. They moved to Sherwood which has since been their home, March 1874.

To them were born seven children, Elnora, Mrs. Gilbert Ellis, William, George, Sylvia, Mrs. Dave Janes, all of whom reside at Plainfield, and Emma, Mrs. Clark Calkins, Jesse and Arthur, residents of Sherwood.

Mr. Sparks was a good Christian; as a friend and neighbor he was held in highest esteem; as husband and father he was always kind and affectionate.  Mr. Sparks possessed a happy, cheerful and sunny disposition and was ever ready to spread cheer and good will wherever he came.  Many homes remember him for loving deeds and kind services, ministered unto them when sickness or death visited them.  Mr. Spark’s death resulted from heart trouble from which he had suffered much this winter.

Besides his wife and the seven children, are left to mourn two sisters; Mrs. David St. Germain of Sherwood and Mrs. Byron Pickering of Fairview, Mont.; 4 brothers John and Jesse of Sherwood, James of Plainfield and Robert of Mt. Hood, Oregon.  His children were all in attendance at his funeral which took place Saturday, Rev. A. F. Klein officiating.
