Wittke, Grace (29 January 1890 - 2 January 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Henry (Grace) Wittke, 72, of Neillsville, who died January 2, 1963.

 

The Rev. Lloyd Mauer of the Methodist Church officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Wittke, the former Grace Shummel, was born January 29, 1890, in Neillsville, and spent her entire lifetime here.  She was the daughter of the late George and Edna (Darling) Shummel, attended Neillsville schools and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1908.

 

On March 27, 1909, she was married to Henry Wittke in Neillsville.  Mr. and Mrs. Wittke celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958 (1959?).

 

She was a member of the Methodist Church and its Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS).

 

Survivors are her husband and three children: Mrs. Jack (Nelda) Parrett of Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Victor (Anita) Schultz of Eau Claire, and Daryl (Bud) Wittke of Black River Falls; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were: Arnold Yankee, Ole S. Aspen, Paul Bartell, Carl Allen, A. C. Janke and William Ruchaber.

 

"Beyond the Sunset" and "Evening Prayer" were sung by Wilfred B. Galstad, accompanied by Miss Kathleen Galstad.

 

Coming from away for the services were: Mrs. Erland Quinn, Cumberland; Mrs. Ruby Zittleman, Colfax; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Turner, Kirkland, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parrett and family, Freeport, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Parrett and family, West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams of West Allis; Mrs. Fay Wittke, New London; Ferd Wittke and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ratsch, Greenwood.

 

Those from Granton attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Garbisch, Milton and Virginia Garbisch, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mortimer.

 

From Eau Claire were: Mrs. Clifford Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schultz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wilson and Miss Jean Schultz.

 

Those from Black River Falls were: Mr. and Mrs. Bud Wittke and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ossie Kleven, Mr. and Mrs. Milton A. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hagen.
