Hardwick, Joyce #2 (22 MAY 1948)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Evangelical & Reformed Church, Neillsville, at 8:00 last Saturday evening, when Miss Joyce N. Hardwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hardwick, became the bride of Carroll E. Kelsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Kelsh.  The Rev. N.J. Dechant read the double ring ceremony, in the presence of the families of the young people and a number of close friends.

The church had been beautifully decorated with lighted candles and the altar was graced with ferns and a lighted candelabra.  Also baskets of pinks, gladiolas, stocks, and snapdragons added to the decorations.

Before the ceremony, Mrs. Will Theiler sang, "At Dawning" and "O Promise Me," accompanied by Mrs. Roy Arndt.  Mrs. Arndt also played the wedding march.

The bride entered the church carrying a bouquet of yellow roses ornamented with white feathers.  Her dress was a white satin with a fitted bodice and a long train.  Her fingertip veil was held in place with a band of colored flowers.  She wore a string of seed pearls, a gift of the groom.  She was attended by Betty Marohl, sister of the groom, matron of honor, and Miss Ruth Kelsh acted as bridesmaid.  The matron of honor wore a pale green gown and the bridesmaid wore pink, the color scheme carried through the decorations.  The bride’s attendants were adorned with dainty pearl earrings, gifts from the bride.

The groom was attended by Wayland Hardwick and Dale Hardwick, brothers of the bride.  The groom wore a light brown suit and the attendants wore shades of brown.  Robert  Harden was the usher.

After the ceremony the families and bridal party went to the home of the bride’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tessmer, in Neillsville, for a reception, after which all were invited to the Silver Dome for the evening party.

The newlyweds received many gifts.  They left for a few days honeymoon trip.  The bride operates "You Beauty Shop," in Strum and will continue there.  The groom is employed by A.T. & T, out of Menomonie.

The pre-nuptial miscellaneous shower was given the bride last Friday afternoon at the Odd Fellows Hall in this village.  A large number of friends attended, and she received many gifts.  Games were enjoyed.
