Laffe, Pvt. Fred (Missing in Action - 30 JAN 1945)

Pvt. Fred Laffe, son of Fred Laffe, now of Eau Claire, was reported by the war department as missing in action in Belgium on Jan. 30th, 1945.  Pvt. Laffe was inducted into the service in March of last year, and was sent overseas in September, after only about six months training.  His regiment was one of the early ones into Europe.  A letter dated Jan. 29th was received by his sister Katherine of Eau Claire, apparently written the day before the action.  Fred was a private in Co. F., 346 infantry, of the Third Army and were on the Belgium front.
