Briggs, Mary Caroline (Marriage - 23 June 1962)

 

Nuptial vows were repeated Saturday, uniting in marriage Miss Mary Caroline Briggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Briggs of Green Bay, and Dennis Wayne Harcey, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Frank B. Harcey of Neillsville.  The Rev. Mr. Harcey performed the double ring ceremony in St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Green Bay.

 

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white floor length gown of silk chantung.  The full bouffant skirt was bell shape in effect and was attached to a fitted bodice styled with a scoop neckline and three-quarter length sleeves.  Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls.  A bridal bouquet of white stephanotis entwined with ivy and centered with an orchid was carried on a white Bible.

 

Mrs. Charles Swann of Madison served her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Ward of Green Bay and Miss Luann Hubing, Chicago, Ill., formerly of Neillsville.

 

Larry Wendt of Granton was bestman for the groom. Claire Wendt and Darrel Tompkins, both of Neillsville were groomsmen.  Ushers were Charles Swann, Madison, and John Schwellenbach of Loyal.

 

"The Lord’s Prayer" and "Entreat Me not to Leave Thee" were sung by Miss Jane Hoare of Marinette.

 

One hundred guests attended the reception in the Fellowship hall of the Church.  On their return from a wedding trip to Michigan the new Mr. and Mrs. Harcey will reside at the Children’s Home in Neillsville, and in the fall will move to new Richmond, where Mr. Harcey is a teacher in the high school.

 

The bride was graduated from Green Bay West in 1960 and attended Wisconsin State College in Oshkosh in 1961-62.  She will continue her education at Wisconsin State College in River Falls this fall.  Mr. Harcey, a graduate of Neillsville High School class of 1957; is also a graduate of Wisconsin State College in Eau Claire.

 

Relatives attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Orr and family, Houston, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Howard and family, Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. George M. Briggs, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Briggs and family, Morris, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Warner Geiger, Oshkosh; Mrs. Oliver McCumber, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. William Briggs and Bill, Lafayette, Ind.
