A quiet home wedding Thursday, Feb. 10, 1944, at 6:00 p.m. united in marriage Miss Velma Heath, daughter of Mrs. Vera Heath of West Fourth St., and William Wayne Dignin, Seaman First Class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome L. Dignin of Humbird (Clark Co.), Wis.
Rev. P.M. Redd of the United Brethren Church, read the double ring ceremony, which was solemnized at the home of the bride’s mother. The home was decorated with mixed bouquets.
The bride was gowned in a tailored suit of soldier blue with white accessories. Her corsage was white carnations.
Mrs. Heath wore a navy blue and yellow dress with black accessories. The carnations in her corsage were pink.
A dinner reception following the wedding was attended by the newlyweds, Mrs. Heath, Rev. Redd, Mrs. Thelma Lacey, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Tuttle, Miss Donna Jean Tuttle, and Robert Tuttle. The wedding cake, baked by Mrs. Tuttle, was topped with a miniature bride and bridegrrom. Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Tuttle served.
Mrs. Dignin attended Nova Centralized School, graduating from Nova High School with the class of ’42. Mr. Dignin is a graduate of Humbird High School, class of ’38. Having enlisted in the United States Navy Feb. 20, 1942, he is with the Atlantic fleet and returned to resume his duties Friday. Mrs. Dignin will continue to make her home in Ashland.
