GREENWOOD -- Bernard C. Denk, 83, of Greenwood died at the Kourtland House, Greenwood, on Thursday, June 2, 2011.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate, and internment will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.


Bernard Charles Denk was born Oct. 12, 1927, in the town of Warner to William Sr. and Mary (Gintner) Denk. Bernard married Beverly Haeuser on June 23, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Bernard started his own business, Midstate Exterminators, which he operated until retiring and selling the business in 1993. After retiring, he was the custodian for the Greenwood City Cemetery for eight years.


He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Greenwood; children Dennis (Connie) of Eau Claire, Steven (Patti) of Greenwood, Russell (Linda Zimbelman) of Madison, Debra Swiggum of DeForest and Marla (Edwin) Ruano of Phoenix, Ariz., 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He further is survived by his siblings Virgil of Decorah, Iowa, William (Marcia) of Greenwood, John (Shirley) of Waukesha, Ronald (Mary Jo) of Cedarburg and Dorothy Wagner of Greenwood.
