Pierce, Guy Thomas (22 APR 1892 - 30 JUL 1942)

 

Guy Thomas Pierce was born at Humbird (Clark Co.), Wis., April 22, 1892, a son of Daniel and Anna (Gleason) Pierce.  He was educated in the grade school north of town, where he made his home until World War I, when he joined Co. A, 53rd Inf., 6th Div., May 2, 1918, being honorably discharged June 23, 1919.

 

He was married to Unita Hogue on Oct. 26, 1921.  To this union were born five children, of whom one son, Donald, is left with his mother to mourn his untimely death.

 

After his marriage he worked at different places until the spring of 1937, when he moved onto a farm one mile east of town, which was his home until his death July 30, 1942.  Mr. Pierce attained the age of 50 years, 3 months and 8 days.

 

He is survived by his widow, one son Donald; his mother, Mrs. Anna Pierce; one brother, Earl; all residing near Humbird; and five sisters: Elgie - Mrs. James Hardwick, Humbird; Agnes - Mrs. Alfred Frank, Merrillan; Iva - Mrs. Arthur Meinholdt, Neillsville; Margaret - Mrs. Forrest White, St. Helens, Ore; and Beatrice - Mrs. Thos. Finch, Camp Douglas; and many other relatives.

 

Besides his four infant children, his father and two brothers preceded him in death.

 

Many relatives and friends from out of town were in attendance at the burial services, including his sister, Mrs. Forrest White of St. Helens, Ore.

 

Mr. Pierce was a member of the Melcher Matti post of the American Legion, and pallbearers were members of the post: Archie L. Sparkes, Arthur Johnson, Henry Laffe, Albert Flick, Raymond Stuve, and Earl Bemis.
