Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 28, for Herman Emil Klatt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild, the Rev. Paul Buck officiating.

Mr. Klatt was born March 2, 1885 in Posen, Germany, and died Jan. 25, 1942.  He came with his parents and older brother to this country when seven weeks of age.  The family first settled at Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) and later moved to the present Klatt homestead where he resided until his death.

At the age of 23 Mr. Klatt married Lizetta Augusta Zillmer.

Mr. Klatt is survived by his widow; three children, Alfred, Mrs. Oscar Rortvedt of Madison, and Mrs. Paul Gorkowski; four grandchildren; and a brother, William of Humbird.

He had been ill for a year and a half.  He died at the Black River Falls hospital where he was taken seven weeks before his death.

He was a lifelong member of the Fairchild Lutheran Church, and repeatedly held church offices.
