Metcalf, Mr. & Mrs. Franz D. (Gold - 11 FEB 1941)

A unique gathering took place at the home of F. D. Metcalf at Puyallup, Wash, Feb. 11th, 1941 - their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Franz D. Metcalf and Miss Mary I. Houghton were married Feb. 11, 1891, one-half mile south of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Houghton.  At the last gather were present four guests who were with them fifty years ago, two thousand miles away.  They were: Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Hartman of Redmond, Wash., Mrs. Alma Nettleton Stevens, Oregon City, Ore., Mrs. Florence Houghton Pate, Tacoma, Wash.

Other guests at the fiftieth anniversary were their daughter, Mrs. C.R. Marsters and granddaughter Jean Marsters; also Mrs. Otie Nettleton Shorey of Chehalis.  Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shatswell of Kalama, Wash., guests at the wedding fifty years ago, were unable to be present.  Also their son, Leland Metcalf, and wife of Havre, Mont, were unable to be with them.
