Marek, Violet (27 FEB 1960)

Miss Violet Marek, daughter of Mrs. Rose Marek, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Thomas Miland Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Miland, Eleva.

Rev. Dobrzanski performed the 10:30 a.m. double ring ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 27, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lublin.

The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Max Simek, Gilman, wore a chapel length gown of silk Peau d’ Soie and re-embroidered Alencon lace.  Iridescents and pearls trimmed the scalloped Sabrina neckline of the fitted Basque, featuring long tapered sleeves.  Appliques of lace mitifs detailed the front of the princess paneled bouffant skirt with bustle bow in back sweeping to a chapel train.  A carnation crown of iridescents and pearls held the imported silk illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of white roses.

Doloris Kaszubowski, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.  Bridesmaid was Betty Miland, sister of the groom.  Junior bridesmaid was Stella Marek, sister of the bride.  The bride’s attendants wore street length winterberry red taffeta dresses fashioned with empire bodice, petal neckline and bouffant skirt.  White crystal braid fashioned their crowns with circular veils and each carried a bouquet of red and white carnations with white streamers.  The attendants each wore pearl earrings and colored pearl necklaces, a gift of the bride.

The groom was attended by James Malinowski, brother of the bride, as groomsman, and best man was Larry Miland, Dorchester, brother of the groom.

A dinner and reception for 75 guests was held at Marion’s Hall, Lublin, and a dance was held at Fournier’s Ballroom in Eau Claire.

The bride, a graduate of Withee High School, is a telephone operator at Wis. Bell Telephone Co., Eau Claire, and the groom a graduate of Eleva-Strum Central High School is engaged in farming at Eleva, where the couple will make their home.
