Friimaki, Charles K. (4 APR 1884 - 23 MAR 1960)

 

Charles Kalle Friimaki, 75, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on March 23, 1960.  He had been living in Lake Worth, Fla. the past year and became seriously ill three months ago.  He returned to Owen March 2 and entered the Marshfield Hospital the following day.

 

Born April 4, 1884 in Jamijarvi, Finland, he came to Waukegan, Ill. in 1904.  In 1909 he was united in marriage with Ann Karell.  The family moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1918 and farmed in the Bright area southeast of Owen.  Mr. Friimaki was one of the pioneer residents of that vicinity, working with great vigor and endurance, building a farm out of the wilderness.

 

In 1946 they retired from the farm, thereafter spending the summers at Stone Lake, Wis., and working in Lake Forest, Ill. during the winter months.   His wife died Jan. 4, 1951.

 

Surviving Mr. Friimaki are a son, Wilho Maki of Longview, Wash., his wife, Pearl, and children Judith, Elaine, Karl and Donald.  Also a daughter, Irma, Mrs. Thomas Jablonic, her husband and sons, Randall and David, Mrs. Randall Jablonic, a great-grandson, John.  Two brothers and one sister in Finland.  One brother, Joseph, preceded him in death.

 

Rev. stone conducted the services at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers were Solomon Laakso, Arnie Laakso, Santeri Warjonen, Frank Stone, Mike Kovatch and Frank Makovec Jr.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Arnie Laakso, Mrs. Martin Keskimaki, Miss Ida Warjonen, Mrs. Joseph Zielinski, Mrs. Mike Kovatch and Mrs. Frank Makovec Jr.  Burial was at Riverside Cemetery.
