Becker, Joseph (20 JULY 1874-? JAN 1956)

 

Joseph Becker, 81, died at a hospital in Owen at 11:50 Monday evening, death being the result of old age complications.

 

The body will lie in state at the Myre Funeral Home beginning Wednesday evening, and a general Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Norbert King will  officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Joseph Becker was born at Woodbine, Illinois, July 20, 1874. He was married to Elizabeth Wand at Stockton, Illinois, on February 7, 1900.

 

The family lived in Illinois until 1911 when they moved to Iowa, and in 1923 they moved to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in the township of Loyal. This farm is now operated by his son, Delbert Becker.

 

Mr. Becker was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and its Holy Name Society. He served as supervisor of the town of Loyal for several years.

 

His wife died October 12, 1943. An infant son, three brothers and one sister, also preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by five sons, Joseph of Marshfield, Clarence and Walter of Harvey, Illinois, and Arthur and Delbert of Loyal; and two daughters, Mrs. Chris (Cora) Ryser of Snyder, New York and Mrs. Alfred (Mae) Rondorf, of Greenwood. Sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
