The Loyal Methodist Church was the setting for the 4:30 p.m. wedding last Saturday of Miss Janet Rottjer and Gene Cook. The Rev.Willard Mecklenberg officiated at the nuptial rites. The double ring ceremony was used.

 

Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rottjer, Loyal, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook, Loyal. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

 

For her wedding the bride chose a waltz length gown of white, fashioned with a three-tied skirt over satin, a strapless bodice of lace, and a lace jacket. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a lace cap, detailed with seed pearls. Her flowers were an irregular arrangement of stephanotis, white orchids, and feathered mums.

 

Mrs. Jerry Jones of Marinette, served her friend as matron of honor, and Miss Margaret Ann Rottjer, Loyal, was her cousin’s bridesmaid. Three identical gowns were of white made with white net over satin, ballerina length skirts, white strapless bodices, sprinkled with rhinestones and dew-drop pearls and worn with white net stoles. Their headpieces were white ruffled net and their flowers were an arrangement of gardenias and ivy on white maline muffs.

 

Jerry Jones of Marinette was bestman. Roy Cook, Loyal. served his brother as groomsman. Ushering duties were performed by Gerald Anderson, Neillsville, cousin of the bride, and Warren Habick, St. Paul, Minn., cousin of the groom.

 

Mrs. Rottjer wore a blue crepe dress with matching accessories and the groom’s mother chose a tan crepe dress with black accessories. Each wore a corsage of Orange Delight roses and bronze pompoms.

 

Mrs. Robert Gingles of Medford sang "Always" and "The Lord’s Prayer". Mrs. Robert Retzer of Medford accompanied her as organist.

 

A dinner in the church parlors for relatives and friends followed the ceremony and a reception for relatives was given in the evening at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Emma Rottjer.

 

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and Stout Institute, Menomonie.

 

The groom is a graduate of Loyal High School. He was just returned from 18 months service in Korea .

 

The new Mrs. Cook is Home economics Instructor in the high school at Clintonville and Mr. Cook is parts man in the Ford garage in Marion. They will live in Marion.

 

Out of town guests came from Kiester, Minn.; St. Paul, Minn.; Elkton, Minn.; Dexter, Minn.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Medford, Rothschild, Marion, Strum, Riplinger, Marinette, Whitehall, Beaver Dam, Madison, River Falls, Neillsville, Hammond, Knapp, Deer Park, Menomonie, Turtle Lake, Viroqua, Stanley, and Greenwood.
