Simmons, Berton Jr. (October 30, 1957 - February 28, 2011)

 

Berton Simmons Jr., 53, of Curtiss, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Berton was born October 30, 1957, to Berton and Majorie (Johns) Simmons Sr. in Oakland, MI.

 

He received his education in Pontiac, MI and attended Pontiac Northern High School.

 

After high school, he was a chef in Pontiac area restaurants. 

 

Berton married Katherine Krause on September 3, 1998, in Medford.

 

He was a cook for the Abbyland Truck Stop in Curtiss, McDonald’s in Abbotsford and the Medo’s in Abbotsford. 

 

He enjoyed his children and their sporting events and also music and movies. 

 

Berton is survived by his wife, Katherine Simmons, Curtiss; children Brandon Krause, Jamal Krause-Simmons, James Krause-Simmons and Precious Krause-Simmns, all of Curtiss. Nakesha Brock and Keiron Payne, Pontiac; parents Berton and Majorie Simmons Sr., Pontiac; sisters Anita Simmons, Waterford, MI, Elaine Simmons, Flint MI, Lillian Diane Wims, and Laverne Williams, Pontiac, Bertram Clay, Davidson, MI and Oliver Greg Bell, Lake Orion, MI.

 

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established at a later date.


A memorial service will be held at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford, on Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. till time of service.
