Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Golden - 1961)

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sternitzky, Lynn, who observed their golden Wedding anniversary August 6, were honored again last Saturday when, a dance was given at the Granton Village Hall, to which their neighbors, friends and relatives were invited.

Last Sunday morning a special anniversary service was conducted at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton by the Rev. Lawrence E. Schreiber.

A grandson escorted Mr. and Mrs. Sternitzky and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pietenpol home in a four-passenger carriage from the church. Mrs. Pietenpol and Oscar Sternitzky, both of Granton, were attendants at the original 1911 ceremony, performed by County Judge Oscar W. Schoengarth, Sr., in the courthouse at Neillsville.

A potluck dinner and supper were served to 200 guests. A three-tiered anniversary cake, baked by Mrs. Stanley Sternitzky, centered the table. There were musical selections and singing by grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Flowers included pink carnations fashioned by Mrs. Alvin Sternitzky, a sister of Mrs. Sternitzky.  Flowers also were given by members of the family, Mrs. Floyd Pietenpol and the Williams sisters.

The couple also received many gifts in addition to a purse of money.

Mr. Sternitzky was born at Lynn August 6, 1888, and the son of the late Albert and Louise (Garbisch) Sternitzky.  He was educated at Lynn School and was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Granton.  Before his marriage he lived on the home farm in Lynn.

After their marriage, the couple farmed east of Lynn, retiring in August 1960.

Mrs. Sternitzky, the former Martha Burdich, was born September 21, 1893, in Vernon County. The daughter of the late Alfred and Flora (Kiser) Burdich, she is affiliated with the Methodist Church. Her hobbies include flowers, rock collection and sewing. Her husband is a baseball fan.  Both are in fair health.

The Sternitzkys are the parents of six living children: Melvin of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Clara Lewis, Chili; George, Clarence and David, all of Granton, and Theron, who lives in Alaska.  Two children died in infancy.  They also have 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
