St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, was the scene of a 9 o’clock nuptial ceremony Nov. 9, 1955, during which Miss Anita Nikolai became the bride of Frank Walter. The bride is the daughter of Jake Nikolai, Marshfield, route 4, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Walter, Granton (Clark Co., Wis.) , route 1.
For her wedding the bride chose a floor length gown with net overskirt accented with velvet appliques and topped with a white velvet jacket. She wore a crown headpiece dotted with sequins and pearls, and carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations.
A friend of the bride from Stratford, Miss Joan Stack, served as maid of honor. She was attired in a blue strapless, floor length formal accented with ruffles and lace jacket, and carried a bouquet of yellow and white carnations. Serving as bridesmaid was Monica Bengert, who was dressed similarly in coral with an identical bouquet.
Ernie Nikolai, brother of the bride, served as best man, while Norman Wolf was groomsman. Ushers were tony Walter Jr. and Henry Frodl Jr., Wausau.
Flower girl for the occasion was Bonnie Schecklman, while Don Hertle served as ring bearer. Music was provided by St. John’s Choir.
The groom’s mother attended in a black dress with lace over taffeta, with a rhinestone trim. She wore a corsage of white carnations and red roses.
Following a honeymoon in Florida, the couple will reside on a farm at Granton, route 1.
Out of town guests were from Tampa, Florida; Chicago, Ill.; Neillsville, Wausau, Stratford, Milwaukee, Rozellville and Granton.
