Braun, George (22 August 1895 –1961)

 

George Braun, 66, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died suddenly at his home last Thursday at 11:30 a.m. of a heart attack.

 

Mr. Braun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Braun, was born January 5, 1895, in Greenwood.  He was married August 22, 1922, to Blanche Smith.  They farmed in this area and moved into the present farm, two miles northeast of here, in 1947.

 

He retired from farming last fall. For a number of years he was supervisor of the Town of Warner.  He was presently a director of the Greenwood Cooperative Credit Union and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where funeral services were held Monday afternoon. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Surviving are his wife; three daughters: Miss Catharine and Miss Jean Braun of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Harry (Verna) Gabor of Milwaukee; three grandchildren; a brother: Theodore Braun of Greenwood and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Liebzeit and Mrs. Emil (Marianne) Noah, both of Greenwood.

Funeral services for George Braun, 66, were held from the Zion United Church of Christ. The  Rev. Orval Egbert officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Ben Skoog, Frank Trampush, Kenneth Dyre, Leonard Johnson, Oliver Kesler and Lawrence Larson.

 

"Beyond the Sunset," and "Some Day he’ll Make it Plain," were sung by Miss Nettie Miller and Mrs. Daniel Olson, with Mrs. Olson as accompanist.

 

People from away who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gabor and children, James and Nancy of Milwaukee; Miss Catherine Braun and Miss Jean Braun of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Paul of Sheboygan Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schomberg of Millersville; Mrs. Catherine Henricks of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson, Mrs. Anna Williams, Mrs. Odeen Johnson and Lloyd Barrickman of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Braun of Sheboygan; Mrs. Beulah Fisher, Mrs. Harmie Huntley and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Grueb of Neillsville; and Mrs. Louis Ziegler of Willard.
